of oil could be a bit of a nuisance if the hose fails. I asked for a new high-pressure hose, as well, on the theory that 10000 psi. Milan, the person at the Nugier works with whom I spoke said that the "rebuild kit" comprised all the small parts of the pump assembly, including the special seals, check valves, etc.Īccording to him, the works recommendation is that all wearing parts be replaced with new if any begin to fail, and when a pump is returned to the works for rebuilding, they replace all small parts with new, that is, they renew everything except for the main housing, the reservoir, and the pump handle linkage. I suppose that's not all that bad, tho, considering.I asked the person at the Nugier works what they would quote for a new 40T hand press.good thing I was sitting down.would you believe $3200+tax+shipping? The choices we had was a rebuilt kit at $250ish, or to send them the pump assy for rebuilding, at $358+shipping.so now we'll have $350ish in the press. Remember Murphy's Law?.The $100 seemed a good deal, and it seemed to work well the first few times we used it, which didn't need much tonnage, but then when we needed its 40T, we found that the pump wouldn't hold pressure above about 6000#.so the answer was to call the Nugier works for a pump rebuild kit. We just recently got another press here, a 40 ton Nugier two-speed hand-press, and, at first glance, we got twice as good a deal, a 40 ton press for only $100.but. Yes, a Nugier press is a good investment at that price.as hand-presses go, they are about the best, I think.at least they are a bit easier to use than some others (years ago, we had a huge old 100T press built by some long-forgotten maker, back around the time of the 1914-18 war, which pressed alright, but the sheer fatigue involved in the millions of strokes of the hand pump needed to work it made it ever so frustrating to use)
